Hello, My name is Carroll S. Kerr, LPC, MA, M.ED. I am a counselor. I’m a female, named after my grandfather. I am looking for a change in career. Precipitated by my 41year old daughter’s kidney disease and the subsequent effect on my practice. I ran across your ad and realized this is something I’ve been looking for. I love animals. I’ve had many dogs and cats. I have been the dog/cat lady. If someone has a dog/cat who needs a home – Call Carroll! I started looking through various portions of your information and – here I am. I am looking forward to meeting all of you(or as many as possible), and hope to find a place in your business! I hope to hear from you. (By the way, I am stupidly healthy!) Sincerely, Carroll S. Kerr
I called petsmart to find out about my applications, to me it’s seemed like the hiring manager didn’t even look at any of her applications yet. Sh etold me she would call back, but she didn’t say when. I have no clue how long I should wait for her to call back or if I should call her again. I really would like to work here, I absolutely adore animals.
How long has it been since you spoke with her? I would recommend waiting about a week or two before calling again. It may just be that they have a lot of applicants. At any rate, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. You can always reapply for the job. In fact, maybe you can ask about reapplying, what the procedure is, when can you reapply. It gives you a good reason to call back.
When you get a response to the application that says you don’t meet the minimum qualifications, how do you know what those qualifications are? That is a pretty generic and ambiguous rejection. Is that a robot response if you leave something blank? The expected qualifications should be listed somewhere if there is a standard that the average applicant cannot meet in order to be employed with your company. Can you explain?
Unfortunately, we cannot provide an answer to your question. You should contact PetSmart for details regarding their recruitment process and selection criteria.
It was probably their “voluntary” pre-assessment questionnaire. Got me, too. I had 2 interviews and was pretty much hired then they said I needed to complete my questionnaire, which I believe to be unconstitutional. They ask you the same questions over and over again re-wording it in hopes you mess up. Asking a question about my personal life should not effect my job at PetSmart, as it has. It was after I completed the BS assessment that I got a call saying due to the answers (which were all answered neutral) they could no longer move forward with hiring me. After the Salon Manager and Store Manager both had face to face interviews with me and I was plenty qualified for the job. I just didn’t let them psychologically f*** me like they wanted. Sorry not sorry. Boycott this place. If you want to work with animals because you love them, this is not the place. Thank you for reading.
